The Technician Shortage
In 2023, the automotive industry faced a significant technician shortage, with a gap of approximately 795,000 personnel. By 2027, an additional 466,000 entrant technicians will be needed to meet industry demands. These new technicians require extensive support, training, and mentorship to develop into the next generation of skilled automotive service workers.
To gain insights into improving technician retention and productivity, Chris Craig, Fixed Operations Content Owner at RockED, conducted a survey involving 804 industry professionals. The findings revealed clear and compelling data on the critical areas where modern technicians need the most support.
